UNBOXING – Tell Me Your Stories
A tradition of storytelling exists the world over, and this is the basis for methods which have been developed and tested to enable refugees and people with a migrant background to participate socially. With the goal of getting to know each other and supporting communication between people, we designed educational materials for the GRIMMWELT Multimediabox.
Überall auf der Welt gibt es eine Tradition des Geschichtenerzählens. Auf dieser Basis wurden Methoden entwickelt und erprobt, die Flüchtlingen und Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund soziale Teilhabe ermöglichen. Mit dem Ziel des gegenseitigen Kennenlernens und der Unterstützung zur Kommunikation zwischen den Menschen, gestalteten wir didaktische Materialien für die GRIMMWELT Multimediabox.
Poster
“Get to know eachother”
The poster uses a visual approach to promote an initial dialogue. It shows the numbers from 1 to 10 in different languages, the greeting “Guten Tag” and its translations, and other helpful phrases used when people meet for the first time.
Das Poster ermöglicht, über einen visuell-ästhetischen Zugang in einen ersten Dialog zu treten. Es zeigt die Zahlen von eins bis zehn in unterschiedlichen Sprachen, die Begrüßung „Guten Tag“ und ihre Übersetzungen sowie andere hilfreiche Sätze, die zum Kennenlernen benötigt werden.
Booklet
“My Family – A Fairy Tale in Pictures”
The A4 booklet contains numerous imaginative representations of people, animals and objects from the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, which the participants can use to tell their own stories by making collages.
Das Heft im A4 Format enthält zahlreiche fantasievolle Darstellungen von Menschen, Tieren und Gegenständen aus den Märchen der Brüder Grimm. Damit können die Teilnehmer*Innen ihre eigenen Geschichten durch das Kreieren von Collagen erzählen.
Exhibition
The exhibition focuses on the presentation of the project, with the spirit of the workshops revealed in the process. In the presentation of the methods, the emphasis is always on the process. The future is the clear focus: with this project, approaches were developed that make a positive contribution to integration work.
Die Ausstellung setzt den Fokus auf die Darstellung des Projektes. Dabei soll der Spirit des Workshops deutlich werden. Bei der Darstellung der Methoden steht immer das Prozesshafte im Vordergrund. Die Blickrichtung ist klar der Zukunft zugewandt: Mit diesem Projekt wurden Vorgehensweisen erdacht, die einen positiven Beitrag zur Integrationsarbeit leisten.
Workshops
Tell Me Your Stories
The workshops focused on the opportunities presented by non-verbal communication. With the help of the picture book, people can talk about their own stories and their family. This is first presented in a picture collage in which fantastic elements are also allowed – just like in Grimms’ fairy tales.
In den Workshops ging es zentral um die Möglichkeiten der nonverbalen Kommunikation. Mithilfe des Bildheftes kann über eigene Geschichten und die Familie gesprochen werden. Letztere wird zunächst in einer Bildcollage dargestellt, in der auch fantastische Elemente erlaubt sind – ganz wie in den Grimm-Märchen.
